The Conference
Bike Sharing Europe: The expert conference @polisMOBILITY trade fair in Cologne on 22 May 2024
Bike sharing is growing across Europe. Bike sharing has become an integral part of European transportation culture and will continue to gain importance as cities strive to offer their citizens more environmentally friendly and efficient mobility solutions. The Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) Expert Group on Bike Share published a study in 2022 on benchmarking bike sharing in 148 European cities. Cargo bikes play a pivotal role in the realm of sharing systems. They can serve as standalone sharing systems, dedicated to transporting goods and large items within cities. Additionally, cargo bikes can be seamlessly integrated into existing bike sharing systems, expanding their utility and catering to a broader range of needs. In Germany alone, cargo bike sharing is already available in more than 160 cities. The Bike Sharing Europe Expert Conference focusses on cargo bikes and how they can enhance bike sharing systems. The conference is organised by cargobike.jetzt at the polisMOBILITY trade fair in Cologne.
The day will serve as a meeting point and exchange platform with networking and learning opportunities for various stakeholders. Civil society, experts, academia, business, and municipal representatives will be able to engage in open dialogue, learn from each other, and initiate joint visions and concrete projects. Participants from Germany and neighbouring European countries are expected.
